Prior to becoming a Miles LeHane coaching consultant in 1999, Joe spent over 30 years in financial operational capacities with Marriott International and Saga Corporation. During his career, Joe worked in a variety of senior financial positions and senior operating management positions in foodservice operations for both companies. Upon his retirement in 1998, he began to offer management consulting services to organizations such as Sodexho/Marriott and the World Bank.
In 1971, as the Group Vice President of finance, he was responsible for all financial aspects of the Marriott Restaurant Operations Group. In 1976, he became Vice President of finance and administration for the theme park group where he was responsible for the development of financial systems and controls, electronic data systems, financial reporting, and all administrative operations of the new theme park group.
Joe moved from finance to operations in 1980, when he left Marriott International and joined Saga Corporation as Vice President and General Manager of Corporate Services Division where he had national responsibility for all operations of the corporate services division within Saga. In 1986 Marriott acquired Saga and Joe returned to the Washington, D.C., headquarters where he became President of Corporate Services east division within the contract services group of Marriott with revenue in excess of $500 million.
For the next two years, Joe served as the Senior Vice President of Corporate Alliances for Marriott International where he was responsible for the establishment and maintenance of all internal and external alliances with corporate partners designed to improve the revenue, cost control and overall performance of Marriott International.
Joe became President and Managing Director International, for the Marriott Management Services Group in 1995 where he was responsible for the development and operational management of all contract business services business outside the United States. He retired in 1998, when the contract services business was sold to Sodexho.
During his career, Joe served as Chairman of the Board for the Marriott Employees Federal Credit Union and served on other affiliated Boards of Directors.
Joe received his BS degree in accounting from Pennsylvania State University and his MBA from George Washington University. He also received his CPA certification in the state of Maryland.
