Stanley
B. Corey, Jr., ChFC, CFP
Stan began his affiliation with Miles LeHane’s
predecessor company, LeHane Consulting, over 15 years ago and
has maintained his continuity of service with Miles LeHane. Stan
is a Chartered Financial Consultant, Certified Financial Planner
and owner of Great Falls Financial Services located in Great Falls,
Virginia. The firm is a fee-based financial planning organization
providing financial consulting services to individuals, professional
practices and business for more than twenty years. The firm is
a Registered Investment Advisor under the Securities and Exchange
Commission’s Investment Advisors Act of 1940. As of the
end of 2000, the firm had over $150,000,000 of client assets under
its advisory services.
Throughout his financial planning
career, Stan has been an active participant in the industry associations,
serving on a number of advisory councils for the IAFP. He was
also a member of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners
and as admitted to the Registry of Financial Planning Practitioners.
As of January 1, 2000, the IAFO and the ICFP merged forming the
Financial Planning Association (FFPA). He is a member of the FPA
and plans to continue his active participation in both the local
chapter and with the national organization.
In addition to his professional affiliations,
Stan publishes a quarterly client newsletter, News & Views
(now in its 19th year), is an active member in the business community,
has been a guest speaker at a number of industry conferences,
teaches college business courses and divorce mediation classes;
is a regular speaker on the financial aspects of divorce at the
Women’s Center in Vienna, Virginia; has been a guest on
local radio and television programs and has been quoted and featured
in national publications such as USA Today, Working Women Magazine,
MONEY, and Good Housekeeping. He has also developed Divorce Financial
Analysis, a program to evaluate the long-term aspects of a property
settlement agreement, and has been an expert witness in divorce
cases. He continues to work closely with a number of local family
practice lawyers and estate planning attorneys.
Stan graduated from American International
College in 1971 and joined the U.S. Navy. He served a little over
four years, during which time he was the Chief Medical Technologist
in a Navy hospital at Patuxent River, Maryland. In addition, he
also raced sailboats and in 1974 was the Navy sailing champion
skipper at Annapolis. He continued to coach at the Academy through
1982, and participated in the 1982 Bermuda Race.
When
not pursuing his career, he continues sailing on the Chesapeake
Bay and gunk holing around the many rivers and creeks of the Northern
Neck area of Virginia.
